Jacksonville Landing

This downtown area is right on the water and offers plenty for restaurants and shopping.
It also hols a variety of events throughout the year.

Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary

This is a great place to see some endangered big cats, such as lions, cougars, leopards, bobcats and more. This non-profit organization’s mission is to provide a safe home for endangered big cats and to educate the world about their life in the wild and in captivity.

Riverside Park

This 11.4-acre public park is a lovely place to wind down with the kids. This is the second oldest park in the city and offers playgrounds, walking area and places to sit as you watch your kids have a blast. A nice place to enjoy an evening walk together.

Everbank Field

Catch the Jacksonville Jaguars at a football game or go to some of the many concerts and events held at this modern stadium.

The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens

Built on the site that was home to Arthur and Ninah Cummer in 1961, this is a great place to learn about the arts and gardens. You’ll find 8,000 years of art history featured here in over 6,000 pieces of art. The 2.5-acre garden features unique examples of 20th Century garden design and more.

University of North Florida National Recreational Trails

There is a parking fee here, but it’s well worth it. You will be able to take advantage of trails that run over 12 miles in length. There is also a 21-station exercise course. You’ll get to see wildlife in its natural habitat and get some exercise with the entire family walking these trails.

Daily’s Place

There isn’t a bad seat in the house at this amphitheater where you can enjoy a musical performance with your loved one. A perfect place to enjoy a date night, just be sure to find showings on their website and purchase tickets so that you can plan your date night here.

Amelia Island

Want a little staycation? Amelia Island is a barrier island off of Florida. It’s only 45 minutes away from downtown Jacksonville and has beautiful beaches. There’s also golf, dining, horseback riding and more.

Big Talbot Island State Park

This is a great place to get some good photography as well as to enjoy wildlife. You can visit The Buffs to have a picnic with your family and enjoy the live oak and cedar tree skeletons that wash up on the shore. With an advanced reservation, you can also take advantage of a kayak tour.

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

The Zoo is right along the Trout River and offers fun exhibits and plenty of places to enjoy the greenery.

Beaches

There’s lot of beaches in the area to enjoy. Bring out the sunscreen and beach towels and enjoy the Florida water.

Golf

Florida is known for golfing and Jacksonville is not immune. There are plenty of golf courses around the area and some offer military discounts. Naval Air Station Jacksonville also has its own golf course.

St. Augustine

For a day trip, visit, St. Augustine for some fishing, architecture, and wonderful history. You can swim with the dolphins or take a trolley tour to explore the city.
